From Official Vinylmation Blog:
At 8:30 a.m. this morning, D-Street at the Downtown Disney® WestSide in Florida opened its doors to Vinylmation™ Fans. From 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., we held a special Passholder Preview. Passholders had an opportunity to sign the “I Was There” Vinylmation® Figure which will eventually be displayed at D-Street (in the orange case). Steven, Project Manager for Trading, told us that case would rotate out with various things like one-of-a-kind figures. It currently features the Disney Star Showcase with figures signed and designed by Disney Stars like the Jonas Brothers or folks from “Phineas & Ferb.”The first 500 Passholders that visited D-Street this morning received a 1.5″ button featuring Mr. Toad. This figure will be one of the first Passholder Exclusive figures being released later this year. When it is released, it will be available to Passholders in both Florida and California. The button was a special creation just for the sneak preview today.Vinylmation, Jr. Series 1 was released which featured 18 different designs in a mystery box. There are 36 key chains to a tray. If you purchase the whole tray, you get two sets of 16 key chains plus one of each of the mystery chaser key chains. You may also recall the Disney Parks Blog Article back in January 2010 discussing the Vinylmation™ Cutesters. Steven mentioned in that article that the Cutesters inspired bag had an extra mystery. It too was revealed today – a Vinylmation™ Junior key chain is attached to the back. At the time, Steven couldn’t show the Junior figure as we weren’t ready to announce this new 1.5″ figure. But now you know. The 6-foot by 6-foot Create Your Own Table featured an incredible Mickey Mouse creation. You have to see it to believe it.There were a few additional surprises that happened at the last minute. We didn’t think we could get the Park #4 Series 9″ featuring Sully & Boo and Adventures Thru Inner Space for the store opening. Yet we were able to get some. We even made another trip to the warehouse to get additional Sully & Boo figures (which as of 1:00 p.m., the store still had several remaining). The Adventures Thru Inner Space will appear again soon (most likely at D-Street).There was also a special Purchase with Purchase Promotion launched for the opening and found only at D-Street in Florida. Guests can receive a Vinylmation® Bag for $1.95 with any merchandise purchase of $30. See the in-store signage for all the details. But here is a picture of the bag.Around 12:00 p.m., the first official Vinylmation™ Figure trade was made at D-Street. Here is Steven with the Mystery Box 24 which has been featured at several recent Disney Trading Nights in Florida. D-Street in California will also have trading starting today. During the next few weeks, additional open “Trade Me” boxes and Mystery Boxes will be distributed to select merchandise locations in Califorina, Florida and Paris. Look for more communication around this coming next week.Thank you to everyone who visited D-Street today. We had a great time and hope you did too. Mark your calendars for Friday, April 16 at 9:30 a.m. More to come…

The series is called Kustom Kulture Motor Mouse and each work is “Kustom Pinstriped” and is flat black to resemble “kustom hot rods” in true Americana fashion. -The long-awaited Cutesters series and Urban Series #3, as well as the first-ever batch of Vinylmation apparel, will be released at the Disneyland Resort’s newest store, D Street, on December 15th. Walt Disney World is expecting to recieve both Vinylmation series around December 20th. The Cutesters will only be 3″ figures, while only Urban Series #3 3″ figures will be released in December. The 9″ figures from Urban Series #3 are expected to hit shelves in Florida and California at some point in Janaury 2010.
-The D Street store at Disneyland Resort’s Downtown Disney (opening December 15th) will be the major Vinylmation retailer for the west coast. As stated in the store’s press release:
A place where urban art inspired product “intersects” with a Disney creative edge. This raw, unfinished industrial style space will showcase a mix of Disney inspired art created by local and underground artists. Also up for grabs is cutting edge apparel, pop culture novelties, vinyl figures, collectibles and more.
D Street will feature Disney vintage looks from Disney Couture, urban styles and artwork from Bloc 28, Surf and Skate inspired apparel, artwork and accessories, as well as Star WarsTM tees. Also available at this new hot spot are some of the latest offerings from jewelry designers such as Tarina Tarantino and Classic Hardware as well as fashions from labels like Mighty Fine and Harajuku Lovers. The location will also be home to the work of one of Southern California’s local Artists, Noah. Noah draws his inspiration from his love of Disney as well as his love of the forgotten era that we tend to cling to, which includes old movies, classic cars and rockabilly style Kustom Kulture.
This new urban-style location will also pave the way for everything VinylmationTM. Considered one of the flagship stores for Vinylmation figures, D Street will showcase the latest releases from the various collections, including the Park Series, Urban Series, Holiday Series and more. Designed by the creative talents from our Disney Design Group, Disney Vinylmation takes on a whole new meaning in the world of collectibles. These 3″ and 9″ figures are often designed to represent icons, attractions and characters from Disney Parks & Resorts or have more of street feel with their urban-inspired looks.
So be sure to hit the “street” and see what’s in store for you!
